Objavljamo javni razpis za Nagrado skupine OHO 2012, osrednje neodvisne nagrade za mlade vizualne umetnice in umetnike v Sloveniji do 35. leta.

Vabimo institucije, organizacije, skupine, avtorje, da prijavijo sodobne umetnice in umetnike, ki delujejo v vizualni umetnosti (mediju risbe, slikarstva, kiparstva, videa, novih medijev, performansa ipd.)

Letošnjo mednarodno strokovno žirijo sestavljajo:
Dalibor Martinis (umetnik, Zagreb), Jože Barši (Akademija za likovno umetnost in oblikovanje, Ljubljana), Katerina Mirović (kustosinja, Ljubljana), Miran Mohar (umetnik, Ljubljana).

Razpis za nagrado je odprt mesec dni do vključno 9. 3. 2012.

Nagrado razpisuje Zavod P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E., Ljubljana, v sodelovanju s Foundation for Civil Society, New York in Trust for Mutual Understanding, New York.

You are kindly invited to attend the public presentation announcing the publication of the book CODE:RED at the A+A Gallery, San Marco 3073, Venezia.

Introducing the book and the CODE:RED project will be the art historian and theorist Suzana Milevska, the artist Tadej Pogačar, Carla Corso, Pia Covre and Daniela Manu (Comitato per I Diritti Civili delle Prostitute).

We are very pleased to announce the publication of the book CODE:RED. The book includes theoretical essays and previously unpublished documentary material relating to the long-term collaborative art project CODE:RED, which was initiated in 1999/2000 by the P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Museum of Contemporary Art and launched on 49.Venice Biennial (2001) in close collaboration with CDCP, Pordenone.

The book CODE:RED includes a series of theoretical essays from the fields of gender studies and feminism, the history of the struggle of sex
workers, their political actions, their fight for human and social rights, their cultural work, their inclusion in labor syndicates, and so on. The
publication pays tribute to the extraordinary individuals who through their courage and boldness have managed to escape the vicious circle of ignorance and stigmatization. The book also presents essential information about the CODE:RED project its beginnings, structure, strategies, actions, networks, and collaborations. Also included are visual documents from projects in São Paulo, Venice, Skopje, Madrid, and New York.

The authors of the essays are Ana Lopes, Pia Covre, Gabriela Silva Leite, Suzana Milevska, Maria do Mar Castro Varela and Nikita Dhawan, Mamen Briz, Mojca Pajnik, and Melissa Ditmore. The book was edited by Tadej Pogačar, with language editing by Rawley Grau and Jana Wilcoxen and graphic design by Ajdin Bašić. The book has been published in English.

The publication of CODE:RED was made possible by the financial support of the Erste Foundation, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Slovenia, and the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Ljubljana. The publisher of the book is the P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. Institute.

Matej Pečnikar je slikar najmlajše generacije, ki se v zadnjih letih intenzivno vstopa v javnost.
Za njegovo umetniško produkcijo je tipična strukturiranost in uniformiranost slikarskega nosilca:
Npr. vse slike zadnje serije so narejene na platna enake velikosti, posamezni kosi pa sestavljajo večje kompozicije.
Slikovne kompozicije Mateja Pečnikarja spominjajo na zasebno zbirko upodobljenih fragmentov iz živalskega sveta in sveta narave – takorekoč na wunderkamer – brez očitne sistematike.
Pečnikar upodabljajoča motivika se giblje od mikro pogledov živih organizmov do makro kadriranj psihaledičnih pejsažov.
Upodobitve insektov avtorja asociirajo na človeško civilizacijo (npr. mesto-mravljišče). Številnim živalskim upodobitvam se pridružujejo samotne, skoraj virtualne pokrajine z redkimi drevesi.
Čeprav so kompozicije preproste, je tematika slik zahtevnejša, kot vse na prvi pogled razkriva.
Preko simbolov, vzorcev, pisanih, ritmičnih črtastih podlag umetnik nakazuje na koncept cikličnosti, repetitivnosti, ponavljanja ter na relacije med duhovnostjo in podzavestjo. Umetnik sam poudarja, da uprizorjeni motivi tako ne poskušajo reprezentirati zunanjega sveta, temveč se osredotočajo na notranjega; kompozicije so centralne, podobe grafične, stilizirane, arhetipske s poudarkom na barvnih kontrastih.
Matej Pečnikar je obiskoval srednjo šolo slikarstva in dekoracije “Instiuto d’arte Max Fabiani” v italijanski Gorici in študij nadaljeval na Akademiji “Belle arti di Brera” v Milanu (1995-1997) in slikarski Akademiji na Dunaju (1998-2001). V zadnjih dveh letih se je samostojno predstavil v Galeriji Kibela in Media Nox v Mariboru ter v Galeriji Pasaža in Mestni hiši MOL v Ljubljani. Sodeloval je na več skupinskih razstavah v Kilkennyju (Irska), Sydneyu, Dunaju in Novi Gorici.

The paintings of Matej Pečnikar recall a private collection of depicted fragments from the world of animals and nature, but without any obvious system of organization. The subjects Pečnikar’s depicts range from micro-views of living organisms to the macro-framing of psychedelic landscapes. His pictures of insects, meanwhile, suggest human civilization (e.g. the city/ant colony). His many animal images are joined by his desolate, almost virtual landscapes with only the rare tree. Although his compositions are simple, the themes of his paintings are more demanding than might appear at first glance. Through symbols, patterns, and rhythmically lined surfaces, the artist points to the concepts of cyclic movement, repetition, and replication, as well as the relationship between the spiritual and the subconscious. The artist himself stresses that the portrayed subjects do not represent the outer world but rather are focused on the inner one; the compositions are centrally organized, while the images are print-like, stylized, and archetypal.

Vabljeni na otvoritev razstave in izid nove knjige umetnika “Metal” v KAPSULO, Podhod Ajdovščina 1, 1000 Ljubljana v sredo, 21. decembra 2011 ob 19. uri.

Miha Koron je fotograf mlajše generacije, ki v zadnjih letih obsesivno in sistematično dokumentira protagoniste metalne scene. Razstava v KAPSULI prinaša izbor najzanimivejših fotografij zadnjih let.

Ob razstavi najavljamo še izid nove knjige umetnika Mihe Korona “Metal”, ki jo je strokovna komisija izbrala na javnem razpisu za novo knjigo umetnika v letu 2010. Knjigo je oblikoval Boris Balant, tiskana pa je bila v tiskarni Formatisk. Obsega 48 strani in je izšla je v produkciji Zavoda P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E., v nakladi 100 izvodov.

The Leipzig publishing house Lubok Verlag was founded in 2007 by the artist/publisher Christoph Ruckhäberle. Each year, Lubok invites ten artists to prepare an artist book project in the linocut technique. The books are printed on old presses from the original plates in editions of between 300 and 1,500 copies. The publishing house strives to produce books at reasonable prices, since it wants the book form to remain a democratic medium accessible to the general public.
Apart from artist books, Lubok also prints art monographs. The expansion of its publishing program to include offset printing offers new possibilities to artists who work in photography, drawing, and conceptual art.
Lubok Verlag is a regular participant at the most important trade fairs for independent publishers of artist books. In 2010, the publishing house was invited as a special guest to the Art Basel art fair, in the Off Press section. In recent years, Lubok has received a number of awards and honors for its work.
The exhibition has been organized in collaboration with Lubok Verlag. It is part of P74’s BLIND DATE series, which is dedicated to the promotion and support of artist books.

“We begin with the feeling that there exists a kind of inability to influence the surrounding world and communicate with it. At the same time, we have the sense that this seemingly impotent part of language is precisely what determines relationships and enables the shaping of meaning. To put it another way, the search for the truth that lies behind the media surface is based on the ideological assumption that truth is concealed from the eyes. Thus the gaze is directed away from what the eyes see. We constantly try to peek behind the surface of the image and constantly recognize the futility of doing so. This may well be because the image is a mental construct and thus has no surface behind which anything can hide. If the truth can be revealed, this can happen only through the image.”

Zavod P.A.R.A.S.I.T.E. med 25. in 27. novembrom sodeluje na sejmu knjig umetnika MISS READ v osrednjem berlinskem centru sodobne umetnosti KunstWerke. To je že tretja edicija tega uspšnega sejma, ki vabi najpomembnejše neodvisne evropske založnike in umetnike, da predstavljajo svoje nove knjige. Knjiga umetnika kot poseben žaner odraža številne smeri umetniške produkcije sodobne vizualne umetnosti. Poleg tetga prinašajo tudi nove poti prezentacije, izmenjave in distribucije. Na sejmu se bo predstavilo več kot osemdeset (80) najaktivnejših akterjev neodvisnega založništva knjig umetnika.
